Motorbike racing is insane isn’t it?
In an age where the various car racing series are all trying to outdo each other with more and more safety add ons, the best a bike racer can do is just not fall off.
Or, fall off in style.
The second option demonstrated perfectly here by Moto2 rider Tetsuta Nagashima.
While taking part in a practice session at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, in heavy rain, Nagashima lost control of his machine at turn 9, but not his cool.
Instead of flying into the barriers, the Japanese rider calmly surfed his stricken bike down the track to a stop.
Almost as impressive, is the work of the cameraman who captured Nagashima’s moment of glory in beautiful slow motion.
Named by F1 presenter Will Buxton, as Jose Boyer.
Easily one of the best pieces of motorsport camerawork you’ll ever see.
If you’re in the UK, here’s a lovely clip including the full speed crash from BT Sport.
