Disenchantment, the New Show From Matt Groening, Has a Trailer.

A mere 20 years since the launch of Futurama, Matt Groening is back with Disenchantment.
And with a new trailer at Comic Con, the hype is building.

Animated by the same studio that created Futurama, the show will have the familiar Groening look.

It’ll begin on Netflix next month.

Set in the fantasy medieval kingdom of Dreamland, the series will follow the adventures of a hard drinking Princess named Bean, along with Elfo, her companion elf, and Luci, her personal demon.

I’m already excited for the inevitable Simpsons / Futurama crossover.
A Princess Bean, Homer and Bender three way drinking contest maybe?

Netflix have commissioned a 20 episode run, with the first ten released simultaneously worldwide on August the 17th.
So get the snacks in people. It’ll be binge watch time for sure.

Last year, Netflix’s VP of Original Content, Cindy Holland, announced, “The series will bear his (Groening’s) trademark animation style and biting wit, and we think it’s a perfect fit for our many Netflix animation fans.”
This was after the network made those same fans angry by removing Futurama from the network.

Hopefully, Disenchantment will make up for that loss.

Futurama eventually ran for 140 episodes, picking up 6 Emmy awards on the way.
Judging from the success of The Simpsons and Futurama, there’s no reason to think the new show won’t match that success.

For now though, here’s the trailer. Featuring a Game of Thrones nod, and a hilarious pet shop bit that sets the tone perfectly.

Disenchantment will be available on Netflix worldwide on August 17.
